Founder – Umesh Wariyapperuma Umesh Wariyapperuma is the Founder of the Ceylon Academy of Gemmological Science (CAGS) and the CEO of Ceylon Gem Traders, a family-oriented enterprise dedicated to bringing natural Sri Lankan gemstones to the global market. With over 25 years of experience in the luxury goods and jewellery industry, he has successfully expanded international reach, strengthened customer trust, and built a reputation for delivering exceptional quality and value. He is a highly qualified gemologist, holding prestigious diplomas from the Gemmological Association of Great Britain (Gem-A), the German Gemmological Association (DGemG), and the European Federation of Gemmological Education (EFG). Renowned for his expertise in identifying, grading, and valuing gemstones, he continuously updates his knowledge to remain at the forefront of industry advancements. Beyond gemmology, Umesh is an accomplished entrepreneur and strategist, equipped with an MBA from the University of Chichester.
